August 24, 2008 (picnic) - Bayport Aerodrome

September 14, 2008 - Bayport Aerodrome - The speaker will be Michaelene "Mickey" Carpenter.  Mickey's involvement with aircraft organizations could fill volumes, including the Experimental Aircraft Association, where she was president of Long Island Chapter in 1989 and again in 1993 and 2004. Mickey was the coordinator and air show commentator for the EAA Chapter Air Show at Calabro Airport in Shirley, Long Island in 1981. She has been or is currently a member of the AOPA, Seaplane Pilots Association, Grumman Aerospace (GACE) Flying Club, LIEFC, Aviation Council of Long Island, Bayport Aerodrome Society, and the list goes on.  Mickey's presentation at our meeting will include a video of an interview with Serge Sikorsky (son of Igor Sikorsky, founder of Sikorsky Helicopter Company).  This video was produced for the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Floyd Bennett Field.  Mr. Sikorsky discusses the refinement of the helicopter and also the experience of growing up with his famous father
