Westhampton Beach Building Update

Many of the clubs artifacts have for many years been stored in a building at Gabreski airport. Conditions in the building are not the best. No heat or electric, dust, dampness, etc. Not ideal conditions for preserving artifacts. In addition we have been notified that the building must be vacated within 12 months. Frank Licari, Sal Vitali, Bill King, and Pat Gallagher have been working in the building trying to organize the contents. Among the items in the building are aircraft engines. It was decided that the engines should be placed where they could be on display. Frank Licari contacted Bill Clifford, president of the Bayport Aerodrome Society. An agreement was reached with Bill, and the engines will be on loan to the Bayport Aerodrome Society and displayed in their hangar along with many of their own artifacts. It took a lot of hard work to move the engines out of our building to the Bayport hangar. Stands had to be built for some of the engines and Bill was very helpful. The hangar is also being renovated and will look great when finished. It will open on weekends and members are encouraged to visit.
